DORAL, Fla. — Rory McIlroy go about the media and faced up to his mistakes on Wednesday.
McIlroy spoke at a jammed news conference ahead of this week's World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship.

"I realized sensibly quickly that it wasn't the right thing to do," McIlroy said of his decision to paseo off the course midway through the second aggress of the Honda Classic shoemaker's last week. "No matter how bad I was playing, I should have stayed out in that respect."
McIlroy answered the questions with honesty, and a smile: "It was a mistake," he said. "Everyone makes mistakes. I'm learning from them."
"... Most of my mistakes are in the general eye."
McIlroy issued a record after walking off last Friday that said he was suffering from a toothache. He reiterated Wednesday that statement was true. He alike acknowledged his mental state was non good.
"I learned that when the tough gets going, I've got to stick in there a bit more and I've got to grind it out," McIlroy said. "There's no cleanification for quitting and it doesn't set a good example for the kids watching me, difficult to emulate you. It wasn't good for a whole lot of reasons, for the tournament, the pack coming out watching me. I feel corresponding I let a lot of people knock down with what I did last week, and you know, for that, I am very sorry."
McIlroy also acknowledged that there is extra pressure being in the spotlight and being No. 1.
"I think it was a buildup of everything," McIlroy said. "I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself to consummate and I've been working so hard and non really get much out of it. You know, that's just been the frustrating thing, and that's what happened. It was a buildup of tall expectations from myself coming off, you know, the back of such a great course last year, and wanting to continue that form into this year and not being able to do it.
"I just tell apart of let it all get to me."
McIlroy allow for play the setoff and second rounds with a couple of other players who know the pressure of being in the spotlight and being No. 1, tiger Woods and Luke Donald.
"In the long run, I think Friday will be a blessing," McIlroy said. "It was like a release valve. It's just game."
McIlroy also answered questions about his switch to Nike and, what he says is the real problem, his swing, which is not in sync.
"I know it's purely the swing; the equipment is fantastic, no problem at all," he said. "When I make a good swing it does exactly what I want."
McIlroy also turn to his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki. Speculation has been that there is trouble in paradise.
McIlroy flashed a smile and said he had been reading what is being written.
"Just because I have a bad day on the golf course and Caroline loses a compeer in Malaysia, it doesn't mean that we're breaking up," he said. "It's sport, and look, I'd rather donjon my private life as private as possible. Everything on that front is great and I'm looking forward to seeing her near week when she gets to Miami."
