Baylor University star Brittney Griner is wide expected to go first overall in the upcoming WNBA Draft, but could she get set uped in the NBA? At least angiotensin-converting enzyme team would take a gamble on her. Dallas Mavericks possessor Mark Cuban told Eddie Sefko of the Dallas dayspring News that he would consider drafting the first woman in NBA history.
"You never know until you give someone a chance," Cuban said. "And it's not like the likelihood of any late-50s draft pick has a good chance of making it. If we had tryouts, I would rich person no problem inviting her to work out and see how she did. No problem whatsoever."
Given that this is Mark Cuban, there's no telling whether he's serious or just out for attention. But there is no manifest rule against an NBA team signing a woman, and Cuban has never been one to shy away from making a splash. Whether or not Griner could cut it against NBA competition, the idea that at one NBA team is seriously exploring the possibility of breaking the league's gender barrier is an matter to one.
