Reversing its march towards creating a phone that requires a wheelbarrow to labouraround town, Samsung has proclaimedthe 4.3-inch S4 mini.
Though smaller than the regular S4, the mid-range S4 mini’s screen is slakelarger than the iPhone 5′s 4-inch display. Unfortunately, Samsung is mum on the price or truerelease date of the tinier version of its hit Android phone. What we do know is that the company is entering the mid-market territory with a slightexpensive device.
The S4 mini is crammed with an 8MP camera, a qHD Super AMOLED screen, 8GB of storage, 1.5GB of RAM, and is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor. The phone runs Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s Touch Whiz skin.
It leavebe available with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+ or 3G dual SIM radios dependent on the market.
Basically, it’s less exciting than the larger S4, but more than bounteousfor most smartphone shoppers. The news is also the second “budget” piece of electronics announced today, joining Apple’s release of its cheaper iPod touch.
Apparently, summer is the official season of computeelectronics.
