Protesters rally around NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick

In New York, protesters are set to gather behind Colin Kaepernick. The protest, which will take place outside of the NFL’s headquarters Wednesday, is in support of the former 49er who remains a free agent after his decision to take a knee during the national anthem. Supported by several civil rights groups, the rally comes after a protest in support of the quarterback by current and former New York Police officers in Brooklyn last weekend.

Judge could order deported DREAMer back to U.S. to hear his case

A federal judge ordered attorneys back to court Wednesday to announce whether he will order the first known DREAMer deported under the Trump administration back to the U.S. to make his case for staying.  U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel said he needs to hear firsthand from Juan Manuel Montes, 23, to rule on the undocumented immigrant's claim that he was deported illegally by border agents.  Nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants have been protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program —or DACA — which President Trump has the power to end at any time since it was created by a Department of Homeland Security directive and requires no congressional action.

Need a new car? Try used electric, AAA says

Used electric cars might be the best bang for your vehicle buck, AAA says in a new study released Wednesday. Also, charging an electric car costs about 4 cents per mile, compared to about 10 cents per mile for the average new vehicle overall, according to AAA.

Powerball jackpot keeps rising ahead of drawing

It's not too late to get your Powerball tickets: The new jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is an estimated $700 million, which would be the second largest jackpot in U.S. history. The pot grew  after there was no grand prize winner in Saturday night's drawing. Powerball tickets are $2 per play, with drawings on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. But before you get your hopes up high, realize this: Odds of hitting the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
