Shawne Merriman announced his draw backment after eight seasons in the NFL.
The solve rusher, famous for his "lights out" sack dance, posted on his website Tuesday has resolute to retire now to be able to leave the steep on "my own terms."
"My retirement from the game I jazz so much and from the game that has brought me so many not bad(p) opportunities on and off the field has been decided with great thinking for my future on and off the field," Merriman wrote.
He was set to become an open-ended free agent March 12.

"I retire today not because I don't finger I can go out there and soothe play the game at a very high level, I am retiring because I want to retire on my own terms and leave while I know I can inactive play the game," he added.
Merriman was a first-round pick in 2005 by the San Diego Chargers. He was named the NFL's justificative rookie of the year after recording 10 sacks. In 2006, he served a four-game suspension for violating the league's steroid policy, yet still finished the season with 17 sacks and was third in defending player of the year voting.
Merriman was never able to match the performance of the early years in his career.
After totaling 39.5 sacks in his first three seasons while making the Pro Bowl each year, he managed just six sacks from 2008 through 2012.
A knee injury peculiar(a) him to only one game in 2008. But Merriman was released off IR during the season and get with the Buffalo Bills. He returned in 2011 and started in six games in his two seasons with the Bills.
